The above quotes came from the infamous film director of our time ~ Christopher Nolan ~ when he’s being asked about his film Tenet, which is one of the most complicated movies of the year (2020). I love science fiction movies, but this movie does feel something else. Its confusing storyline left me feel like “bittersweet taste” after I’ve done watching it. But I love it though.
Left the movie aside and let’s use the above quotes for our specific topic – Street Photography.

This quote just fits into my style. I love street photography because of its authenticity and the peculiar style of presenting one’s idea into a photograph. It is totally unconventional and sometime people would find it ridiculous and, to a certain extent they might find it “useless”.
I have to admit that if you are new with photography in general, you would need to learn about the camera itself, the composition, the lights and shadows, how it effects the images and the most important criteria of a photograph is to attract people to see it and by end of the day, making money out of it! Camera itself is not cheap by all means and people are always looking to spend on something that can bring back some cash for them – and this is perfectly normal.
Street photography genre on the other hand is totally different from other photography genres. It’s never meant to make money from the photograph itself (although it is not totally impossible though). I like to categories it as one of an “expressions photography” genre which the photographer him/herself is trying to express their inner thought through a photograph. It like an artist with a canvas and paints. They draw whatever they like with it according to their own ideas and expression. The only difference is the tool they choose to draw with. One with a camera. Another with a canvas and paints. By end of the day, it is how they presented their “artwork” to the audience. Some people might like it, some people might hate it. For me, that’s the true nature of “street photography”.

I have to admit that there are some street photographers would like to tell stories from their images. And this is perfectly fine as well. As long as you know what you are doing, you are totally free to create whatever images you want. In general, street photography genre has no restrictions. The street is open for public, and you are free to choose whatever method that suites yourself and be happy with the results.
As for me, I’m photographing the street for myself. I have no intention to tell any sort of stories from my photos – so don’t expect that from me. Hence, I’m not planning or expecting others to be pleased with my photos either. Personally, I just love the process of making the photographs and producing something that I love to see. It’s my way of expressing my inner thought through the process of making the photographs. I love it when everything just came into place and fits into my frame. Its like making a castle from building blocks toys, its messy at first but when everything is perfectly aligned to my imagination – I feel the satisfaction and joy inside. And I love it!

Thank you for reading up to this line. It means a lot for me. Just to let you know that if you are really wanted to understand my images – this is where the quotes above comes into place:
Don't try to understand it. Feel it.
